Jane Marie Noah
(May 20, 1949 – Jan. 26, 2008)

Jane Marie Noah died at her home in Baker City, Ore., on Jan. 26, 2008, of lung cancer.
At her request there will be a gathering this summer with family, friends and those who loved and cared about her.
Jane was born on May 20, 1949, to William and Maryanne (Wells) Champagne in Shelton, Wash. She was raised in Portland and graduated from Cleveland High School. Shortly after graduation, she met David Noah who had just completed a stint in the Army. She and David were married in Vancouver, Wash., on April 12, 1974.
Jane and David began their married lives in Portland later moving to Rockaway Beach, Ore., to raise their family. For years, they had traveled to Eastern Oregon to vacation, hunt and fish, hoping one day to make their home in Baker City. After their children were grown, the dream became a reality, and they moved to Baker City in 2002.
Jane was an accountant by profession. Her last place of employment was May-Day, Inc. of Baker City.
Throughout her life, Jane enjoyed time spent with her kids and family. She also really enjoyed shooting pool with her husband David and friends.
For those who were lucky enough to know Jane, they knew she always put other people first.  She got great enjoyment out of helping others and seeing that there life was better, because she cared. She will be missed greatly.
Jane is survived by her husband David of 34 years; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Jimmy Sullivan; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Megan Noah; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Emily; father William Champagne; sisters, Sherry, Glenna, Janet and Lynn; brothers, David and Lance; many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen Seal
(Nov. 18, 1921 - Jan. 28, 2008)

Mary Ellen Seal, 86, of Halfway, Ore., passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her family.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, 1 p.m. at the Pine Baptist Church in Halfway, Ore. Graveside services  followed at Pine Haven Cemetery, Halfway, Ore. Friends were invited to join the family for a reception following the service at the VFW Hall.
Ellen was born Nov. 18, 1921,  in Hartville, Mo., to George and Verna Farris. She had eight  brothers and sisters.
Ellen married Hobart Seal Jan. 14, 1939, in Ava, Mo. Hobart and Ellen had three children and traveled across the country in search of work. They moved to Baker County in 1946 and to Halfway in 1952. She worked for many years as a cook for the Pine Eagle School District and was proud of her involvement in starting the Cub Scout program in Pine Valley.
Ellen worked hard in everything she did and particularly enjoyed her yard and garden, fishing, hunting, yard sales, her children and many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Teena Seal of Ontario, Ore.; daughter, Linda Blank of Caldwell, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Merrilyn Seal of Halfway, Ore.; sister, Ethel Goss of Sadler, Texas; sister, Lucille Welch of Lebanon, Mo.; brother, Clarence Farris of Gentry, Ark.; sister, Betty Hilliard of Mansfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Cindy Wells, Terra Patton, Stacy Seal, Dan Smith, Kathy Stirm, Jim Smith, Travis Blank, Tracy Gabbard, Mari Moody, Bobby Seal, Teena Thomas; 30 great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobart Seal; her parents, George and Verna Farris; and four brothers and sisters.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the VFW Women's Auxiliary #7847 in care of Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home, PO Box 543, Halfway, OR  97834.
