Lesa Kathreena Bacon
(1923-Feb. 6, 2008)

Lesa Kathreena Bacon, 84, of Baker City and longtime resident of Sumpter passed away Feb. 6, 2008, at Meadow-brook Place.
Her cremated remains will be inurned at the Sumpter Cemetery this spring.
Lesa was born in Germany and moved to the United States in 1923 at three months old with her aunt.  She grew up in Peoria, Ill., on a farm until age 25 when she married.  Lesa moved to California after her first marriage. She moved to Sumpter about 20 years ago, bought, and ran the Elkhorn Restaurant in Baker City. While in Sumpter, she remarried and took the name Bacon. Lesa sold the restaurant after a few years but remained in Sumpter where she and her husband were active with the Sumpter Dredge. She was a guide on the dredge for many years. The couple built a home together in Sumpter where Lesa lived until she moved to Baker City four years ago at age 80.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and especially cooking.  When she had her apartment here in Baker City, she loved preparing meals and treats for her friends.  Lesa did not judge others or spend time gossiping, instead she worried about her own actions and how she could help others. She was a very kind, caring and honest woman.
She is survived by her children: Lee Rabner of Fresno, Calif., John and Frankie and her grandchildren: Lori, Adriane and David Rabner.
Memorial contributions can be made to Pathway Hospice in care of Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel, 1500 Dewey Ave.,
