Missy Reasoner (Sept. 28, 1970 - Sept. 15, 2008)
Missy Reasoner, 37, died, the result of a horse riding accident on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008. A Celebration of Missy's Life ~ Memorial Service was held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at the Richland Methodist Church. Friends joined the family for a reception, which was held following the service at the Eagle Valley Grange. Melissa “Missy” Ann was born on Sept. 28, 1970, in Coquille, Ore., to Larry and Pamela (Miller) Childers. The family later made their home in Richland, Ore. Missy attended Pine Eagle High School and graduated in 1988. Missy married Dennis Reasoner on Oct. 6, 2001, after seven years of courtship. Missy often worked two and three jobs and was driven to make the best life she could for her family. In 2005 the family opened and operated the adult foster home “Reasoner Retreat” in Richland, Ore., and during that same time Missy attended Eastern Oregon University on line and received a bachelors degree in liberal studies in 2006. Missy was known as a fun Mom by her children. She volunteered for a time as a Girl Scout Leader, and once took the entire troop to the Oregon Coast for a camp out. It was deemed for many the “best times of their lives.” She had a great sense of humor and always had a willingness to help and to find the good in all. With her straight-forward attitude Missy easily gained the trust and loyalty of her family, her residents and staff in her foster home. She loved the young, the elderly and her church family. Missy loved her horses and taking long rides. She spent many hours in the barn with all the many animals that she raised. Her inspiration to her family were the words by which she lived "Real failure is when you do not realize how close you were to success when you gave up..." Missy is survived by her husband Dennis Reasoner of Richland Ore.; children Kyeleigh Reasoner of Baker City, Cory Reasoner of Dayville, Ore., and step-daughter Leanne Reasoner of John Day, Ore.; grandmother Maxine Miller and one grandchild Kayleigh Nicole; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother Pam Brunke and grandfather Lucky Miller. The family has requested that donations in Memory of Missy, be made to help defray the cost of funeral services or to one’s choice through Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 543, Halfway, OR 97834.
