Edna Tefft
(Dec. 22, 1932 - March 17, 2009)
Edna Mae Tefft, 76, of Emmett, Idaho, died of congestive heart failure on
March 17, 2009, at home with her children at her side.
Her graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Mount
Hope Cemetery. Arrangements were made with the Potter Funeral Chapel,
Emmett, Idaho.
Edna was born on Dec. 22, 1932, to Robert and Violet Fern Hall Harless at
Woodland, Calif. She graduated from high school in 1950 at Everett, Wash.
Edna worked as a bookkeeper and a real estate agent. She owned and operated
two restaurants, The Kitchen at McCall, Idaho, and the Fireside Inn at Baker
City.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Gordan
Erickson, Tommy Hammond, Clyde Barlow and Art Tefft.
Survivors include her son, Robert “Bob” Barlow and his wife, Shannon, and
their sons, Rob, Andrew and Jeffrey of Monmouth; her daughter, Kari
Appleton, and her husband, Phil, and their daughters, Kat, Bitsie, and Annie
of Silverton; and many friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Wayne Whitnah
Wayne Whitnah, 36, died in Richland, Ore., on Wednesday, on March 18, 2009.
A Memorial Mass was held in his honor on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, 11 a.m. at
St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Baker City. Friends were invited to
join the family for a reception held immediately following the service at
St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Wayne Gordon Whitnah grew up in Baker City attending Churchill and North
Baker Elementary Schools. He enjoyed playing baseball at Baker Middle
School; he was also remembered as a “gentle hearted teacher's aide" at the
local preschool during his middle school years. While attending Baker High
School he was involved in skiing, rodeo, wrestling and enjoyed socializing
with his friends.
Wayne was a gifted chef. He could bake and create pastry so easily to
everyone's delight. He last worked for Community Connection in Baker City
with the Senior Meal program. Wayne was always willing to help anyone in
need. He loved the outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, camping or just
being out for a hike. Wayne also was known for his baseball hats, of which
he had quite a collection.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Briana Taylor of La Grande, Ore.; parents
Warren Whitnah of Richland, Ore., and Ruth Whitnah of Salem, Ore.; brothers
Bob Whitnah, Nick Whitnah and Joe Whitnah; sisters Tymmera Whitnah, Marina
Whitnah, Natasha Whitnah and Lylia Whitnah; Biological Brother Brian Pelch
and Sister-in-law Kari Whitacre; three nieces, Collee, Mady, and Abby; two
nephews in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada; and several aunts, uncles and
cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Gordon and Edith Pratt, Harvey
and Clarice Whitnah and Uncle Cal Whitnah.
Wayne had such a kind heart and sweet spirit, he will be so missed by all
who knew and loved him.

Beverly Wonderly
(May 30, 1935 - March 17, 2009)
Beverly Wonderly, 73 of Baker City passed away March 17, 2009. She was born
May 30, 1935, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Oren and Mamie Rogers. She moved with
her family to Ukiah, Ore., and graduated high school in that community in a
class of five. Growing up in Ukiah was a good experience and Beverly often
spoke of the close community and good times sledding, having card parties
and pulling Taffy.
Beverly married Joseph Arthur Wonderly in 1954. They have two daughters,
Deborah Wonderly Noe, and Brenda Wonderly Chung. The family lived in the
Pendleton and Umatilla, Ore., areas until coming to Baker City in 1996.
During most of years she lived in Umatilla Beverly worked at Meads Thriftway
where that community came to buy groceries. She also got to know and enjoy
the school children at Umatilla Grade School as Beverly was the Head Cook of
the Umatilla School district for a number of years. Beverly would often joke
about the popularity of her lunch menu and the students certainly had their
favorites.
Among the many things Beverly enjoyed, bowling with her team was high on the
list. She had many trophies as an individual and a team player and was a
member of the 300 Club. Beverly spent many hours in her yard and garden and
was known by all to have exceptionally beautiful plants. Beverly enjoyed
spending time with her many good friends and loved to share a cup of coffee
and good conversation
Family was center to everything Beverly did. She is survived by her husband
Joseph Wonderly of Baker City; daughters Deborah Noe and Brenda Chung,
nine grandchildren; Chris Button, Doug Noe, Kelli Noe, Jeffrey Noe, Richard
Chung, Suzy Noe, Michael Chung, Robert Chung, and William Chung all of whom
have resided at one time or another in Baker City; great grandchildren
Sydney Noe, Mia Noe, Darwin Button, and Dagan Button; brother Kenneth
Rogers, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Wanda Rogers and Ian Noe,
a great grandson.
A family gathering celebrating the life of Beverly will be held at a later
date. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution in memory of
