More People, More Restrictions

By Steve Culley
There is never any shortage of issues to comment on when it comes to government. As part of the public I’ve been invited to put in my two cents worth on power lines, road closures for four-wheelers, timber sales, grazing allotments, land use plans, wolf management, water, fuel economy standards, clean air, renewable energy, etc. and on and on. A good involved American could spend a significant amount of his life trying to make sure the nation makes the right decisions on our way to Utopia.

As a nation we expend a great deal of time and money sending young people to college to get degrees in engineering, wildlife biology, range management, soils, forestry, hydrology, planning and zoning, engineering and a host of other things to better manage our natural resources. After some years of intense training they graduate and get jobs in various state or federal agencies and do their best to save the country and planet from the effects of human encroachment on what was here before civilized mankind’s impact  caused, by trying  to house, feed and clothe a growing population. As they move up into management positions they are inevitably called on to produce documents or plans that try to seek a balance between total freedom of movement and use of resources and some kind of sustainability for future generations.

Eventually some group will have to compromise away a good deal of their freedoms for the common good. Decisions will be made on the best available science, public pressure or fiat from higher up based on laws passed by a congress or president far away from the local situation. In the process there will be some form of public hearings and comment period and if there is an issue that affects a certain segment of the population they will mobilize, read the proposed plan, send in their comments and await the decision from those we have hired to manage our land, our lives and our freedoms.

If you choose to think that most of these government issues are important you can spend an awful lot of time and energy getting involved. There should be a way to cut the paper work. Personally I think I’ve found a way. It’s something that those in the very top positions of government should come to understand after years of writing plans for the future Utopia. Each document should have a truth preamble, kind of like the founders did with the Constitution. It should go something like this:
“You have hired me to manage your natural resources. You think my job is to manage the land and the environment. That is not true. My real job is to manage people. The environment has been around for millions of years. Before people it required no management, it was just there doing what environments and natural systems do. It was only after the country was “settled” and various groups came into conflict that the need for me, the manager, became apparent. It’s a simple concept, the more people the more need to manage the various aspects of the environment. Here is a little truth you need to know. I never settle anything permanently. I can’t. The United States of America is the only western industrialized country that as policy constantly and rapidly increases its population through immigration.

We accept “growth” as inevitable. Other developed countries like Russia, Japan, Italy, and others are worried about population busts while we are suffering from the effects of a boom. Recent census figures show that we are now 38 percent minority in the general population but if you count those under 5 years of age it is 48 percent. Blacks and Asians make up a portion of the minority population, but Hispanics are the largest part and when it comes to the very young their populations are the major contributor of the increase. Just sticking to the statistical facts without race involvement it is clear that those from south of the border are the driving force behind our population boom. The reasons for this are many. The 1965 immigration reform act, pushed through Congress by Robert Kennedy was a major cause. He figured that it was racist to favor European immigrants over those from Latin America, and it was. Kennedy did say, however, that relaxing those quotas would not affect our population. He was wrong. Numbers USA and other immigration groups have shown that as direct result we now have 100 million more people than we would have had without it. Without that legislation our population would have topped 250 million and started a decline. Native born Americans hardly replace their numbers. And in the years since immigration reform our borders have remained open. Enforcement of immigration laws has been almost nonexistent. Illegal immigration  is ignored for long periods of time. Then some kind of reform is instituted resulting in amnesty because the United States still interprets a law to make slaves and native Americans citizens to include anyone who gets across the border in time to be born on American soil as a citizen too. They are called anchor babies because they can anchor a whole family of illegals in the United States and eventually claim rights to chain migration for family members. It is estimated that post 2,000 immigration will add 50 million new citizens in several decades. Don’t worry though we have a plan to make us energy independent. We will save the land and many endangered species too. Have big vineyards with wolves in them.

Our immigration policy is a shambles for several reasons. We are a nation of immigrants, which is true, but that was from a time when we had empty spaces and a lot of room. That is no longer the case. We are full, over full. There are those who profit from cheap labor, the extra consumers and willing recruits for the military. There are those who are compassionate toward the poor immigrant just wanting a better life who ignore the effects that an immigrant has on the population and the future of their children and grandchildren.

If one thing is clear it is that more people mean more restrictions. There will be more need to build power lines, dam rivers, build freeways, drive smaller cars, restrict access to public lands, restrict hunting and fishing, limit pollution in its various forms and keep a wary eye on those few who see the handwriting on the wall. The politician will keep getting elected promising to save your world, environmental groups will gain membership and I, as a manager, will always have a job because the problems caused by too many people will always be there, will always get worse. And I can always put out a plan and let you choose among the best alternatives, which are not really alternatives because one way or the other you are going to give up some of your freedoms. And sometime down the road, I, or one of my successors will be back with another plan to mitigate the damage caused by too many people. I’m a planner and a zoner and manager and under the current system I’m stuck to you like a wart that won’t go away. You can await my decision, get used to the new norm for awhile but I’ll be back. There will always be a need to manage.”

So I would like to submit my preamble to each and every land saving document that comes along. It should be a Federal law that some kind of truth statement be affixed to each and every local, state and federal document that is supposed to save me and my kids and grandchildren from the globalists who would replace the United States of America with some world-wide Utopia.

—Letters To The Editor—
Adversities Vs. Lifestyles
To The Record-Courier:
You know it seems to me with some of the recent letters that are being written in regard to lifestyles, why not an anything goes club?

If there could be a separate agenda aside from what we are actually supposed to be doing in order to graduate, maybe various individuals can make their choice of their own free will without all the peer pressure that a child experiences including Bible Studies.

You can’t tell me or cause me to be convinced with all the changes that are being made within our school curriculum that some issues are going to come from some of these activities, especially with younger children being present. Who’s to say what can happen even off the school grounds?

I do hope there will be some police force present to watch what comes and goes into our schools. Another factor is why can’t a boarding school, or private school be considered for the emptied buildings that are taxpayers waste of money just sitting empty? That way those kids who do not want to be under that kind of peer pressure can separate themselves and move on and get an education.

In my lifetime I have faced some of these issues and it is bad enough when there isn’t much of anyone there to help you thru the rejection. A lot of things play into some of these lifestyles, and since then I have overcome a lot of what I had to deal with and have the freedom to be who I am in today’s society.

And having to deal with that kind of pressure whether it be manipulating, control, or just to feel like they can be approved of for whatever reason should never be — or just to be a part of the gang as one would put it — which is the make-up and character of our today’s world to begin with. I know I didn’t graduate with a lot of flying colors so to speak, but at least I graduated and have working experience. And the respect of those who like reading my letters and the friends I have now and thru the years. To me it seems we are wasting time not hitting the  books and making life worth something no matter who you are. I have had to learn the hard way thru the years and yes church people can pretty much do the same kind of thing when it comes to judging all for the wrong reasons. Judge not lest he be judged, for whatever is measured out shall be measured back. I may not be nor my husband in a lot of ways in the eyes of some, but we are not the problem it is those who look at us the way they do that are the problem and manage to keep their distance, for whatever reason they come up with and miss the boat.

My husband and I  have complete acceptance of each other, besides being Christian believers at that. In today’s society it should be a matter of respect, and acceptance and not think that everything has to be shoved down our throats and be neutral in spite of it.

So why not an Anything Goes Club, at least we can still have the choice of freedom to choose and believe that we are who we are however and let it be.
