Over 100 People Attend Pioneer Craft Day At Eastern Oregon Museum In Haines
By Teri Brown-Johnson This past weekend was a very busy one in Haines. There were more than 100 people attending the Pioneer Craft Day at the Eastern Oregon Museum on Saturday, Sept. 15.
There were over 10 exhibits of crafts that are not practiced by many in the 21st century. LA GRANDE — Contractors with the Oregon Department of Transportation will close one eastbound lane on Interstate 84 east of the North Powder on-ramp Friday, Sept. 14, as repair work begins on the I-84 bridge that crosses the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The freeway lane is expected to reopen by Oct. 31. Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with extra caution through the area as work crews and equipment may be present at time.
This work is part of a $5.54 million, Oregon Transportation Investment Act funded project that also includes replacing bridge railings on 10 bridges in the Pendleton area and eight bridges in the La Grande area. Aside from the Sept. 14 lane closure, the contractor, James W. Fowler Co. of Dallas, Ore., will conduct all other work in 2008 and 2009.
