Wally Blair Wally Blair, 64, of Springfield and a former Baker City resident died Aug. 27, 2009 of esophageal cancer. A funeral was held 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eugene. Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield. Inurement will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City Friday, Sept. 18, 11 a.m. Wally was born May 13, 1945, in Baker, Ore., to James and Sylvia Blaylock Blair. He married Arlene Stauffer on Oct. 18, 1980, in Springfield. He served in the National Guard. He started his career in the lumber industry in Baker City and other professions before becoming a truck driver, a profession that he loved. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Vincent and Meg Blair of Beresfield, New South Wales, Australia, and Fred Stauffer and his wife Crystal of Creswell; a daughter Roxanne Formby of Creswell; two brothers, Alan of Baker City and James of Salem; and six grandchildren. A daughter, Katrina; sister, Sylvia; brother, David; niece, Ponglada Blair; and nephew Shane Blair preceded him in death. Arrangements are by Andreason’s Cremation & Burial in Springfield. Remembrances may be made to Green Hill Humane Society in Eugene.
