Brett Burton (May 13, 1978—Jan. 27, 2010)
Brett David Burton, 31, of Ontario, passed away in an auto accident on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 in Ontario. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. MST, Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, 10350 N. Iowa Ave., Payette, with a reception following at 3 p.m. MST at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 661 SW 12th St., Ontario. Services and arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Brett was born in Ontario, Ore. on May 13, 1978 and is survived by a son, Nathan; a daughter, Nikki; his parents, Tom and Vicki Cunningham of Baker City, Ore. and Steve and Arvina Burton of Ontario; brothers, Cristopher (Jennifer Grover), Daniel (Jayneann), Dustin, and Darren; grandparents, Harold and Doris Soper, Evelyn Burton, Gene and Arlene Messinger and Constance Cunningham; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and several nieces and nephews. Ida Mae North (June 7, 1928—Jan. 23, 2010)
Ida Mae North, 81 passed away on Jan. 23, 2010, at the Life Care Center of McMinnville in McMinnville, Ore. Ida had moved there after a massive stroke in 2008. Ida was born in Marshall, Mo., to William and May Wallace on June 7, 1928. She was raised and educated in Marshall. It was in Marshall that she met and married Buster North. They had two children there. When the boys were young they moved to Washington to be closer to a sister and to find work, settling in the Portland area. Ida helped her husband to run a service station and later a drive-in theater. She spent many years as a caregiver and also worked in direct sales, Avon, Tri-Chem and Tupperware. Ida was a lady that loved to shop, play bingo and do crafts. She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne North and three sisters. Ida is survived by one son Donald North and his wife Judy of Richland, Oregon; five grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two brothers; William Wallace and Larry Wallace both of Missouri, several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the care givers at Life Center of McMinnville for all of the loving and helpful care you provided to Ida. A private family memorial service will be held on Aug. 14, 2010 on the Oregon Coast. Ernie Ray Patton (Aug. 29, 1943—Jan. 28, 2010)
Ernest (Ernie) Ray Patton passed away Jan. 28, 2010. A Celebration of his life was held Jan. 30, 2010 at the Hillcrest Memorial Center, 9353 W. Clearwater, Kennewick, Wash., at 4 p.m. Ernie was born Aug. 29, 1943, one of two children to Ada and Arlie Patton in Baker City. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. His fanaticism for golf was legendary and he traveled extensively in the western U.S. to find his perfect game. Ernie spent his childhood and a large portion of his adult life in Baker City. He graduated from Baker High School in 1962 and entered the Army National Guard that summer. Ernie married his first wife, Barbara (Rosales) Patton that same year. They had two sons, Jeff and Tony. In 1968, Ernie joined Cascade Natural Gas Corporation as a backhoe operator and spent the rest of his working career with them. In 1988, he moved to Sunnyside, Wash., to be District Manager and in 2004 he ended his career as the Eastern Regional Director out of Kennewick. Ernie was a long time member of Baker Elks Lodge 338, joining in the early 1970s and serving as the Exalted Ruler in 1975. In 2001, Ernie married the love of his life Esmeralda (Arteaga) Patton and they moved to Kennewick where they made their home. He loved spending the mornings working his crossword puzzles. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his families and missed by his many friends. Ernie was easy with a smile, quick with his wit and generous with his love. The world was a better place with him in it. Ernie is survived by his wife, Esmeralda Patton, his brother Roger Patton, his two sons and their wives Jeff and Diana Patton of Dallas, Texas and Tony and Elizabeth Patton of Vancouver, Wash. His lifelong friend Barbara Patton and The Rosales’s. Step Children Teresa Arteaga, Kevin and Jill Arteaga, Anthony Arteaga. Grand Children: Anastacia Patton, Andrew Ashcraft, Kaitlyn Read, Nathan Patton, Kennedy Patton, Joshua Patton, Troy Patton Dominique Arteaga. Great – Children: Jeremiah Read.
