Marie Delepierre
(Nov. 18, 1918 – May 2, 2010)
Marie Almetta Delepierre, 91, of Cove and formerly of Haines, died May 2 at a local care center.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. July 17 at Haines City Park with a picnic potluck for family and friends to follow. Pastor Gordon Bond of the Richland Christian Church will officiate.
At her request, her ashes will be scattered together with those of her second husband, Cel, in Haines. Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration is in charge of arrangements.
Marie was born Nov. 18, 1918, the only child of Jesse and Minnie (Woodowrth) Osborn in Baker. She married Cecil Samuel Stultz in 1937. They lived in Haines, Union, Chehallis, Telocaset and Baker City. Cecil preceded her in death in 1982. She later married Henry Marcel “Cel” Delepierre in 1987 and lived with him in Haines until his death in 2004.
Her interests included oil painting, gardening, seeking huckleberries and mushrooms, fishing, camping and playing cards such as Canasta and Pinochle. She never tired of playing with her beloved cat, Katie, or feeding and watching the squirrels in her backyard.
Survivors include her children, Elaine and Ike Warwick of Roseburg, Helen and Don Boesch of Pendleton, Ken and Judy Stultz of Baker City, Darrell and Glenna Stultz of Union, Recia and Jim Plummer of Elma, Wash., Linda and Bill Soles of Weippe, Idaho, Wendell and Patty Lewis of Sutherlin and Debbie and Darrell Millman of Cove; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Cecil in 1982, and Cel in 2004; an infant son, Ronald Gene Stultz in 1942; and a step-son, Edward Stultz in 1980.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Association in care of Daniels-Knopp.

Carl Evans
(May 5, 1923 - June 30, 2010)
Carl F. Evans, 87, passed away June 30, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Health Services in Baker City, Oregon. At his families request there will be no services held.
Carl was born May 5, 1923, in Prineville, Ore., to Fred and Julia (Hook) Koski. Following his two years of high school he joined the Navy from 1942 until he was honorably discharged in 1945 as a ship fitter 2nd class. On Sept. 26, 1952, he married Shirley Thompson in Portland, Ore.  Carl worked as a firefighter in Portland until he retired in 1974. He enjoyed Hunting and Fishing.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Evans of Haines, Ore., and his son Scott Evans of Portland, Ore.
Carl is preceded in death by his son Mark Evans.

  Viola Gaddis
(1912 - July 29, 2010)
Viola A. Colton Gaddis, 98 of Baker City, Ore.
Born 1912 in Baker City Ore., and was raised on a ranch in Baker Valley.
She passed on July 29, 2010,  from natural causes at the age of 98 to join Bill in a better place. 
She attended Sacred Heart Academy. She was married to William E. Gaddis and they had 3 children. Viola was a wonderful homemaker and mother, and she was always there for us.
Survived by siblings, LaVelle Long and Pat Cully, of Baker City Ore. Bill Jr., and his 6 children, Patricia, Teri, Annmarie, David, Mark and James. Daughter, Janet and her 4 children, Kevin, Dennis, Michelle, and Tammy. Son, Michael and his 2 children, Michael and Brenda. Also great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Rosary was held at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, followed by Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, where she was laid to rest beside her husband Bill.  Reception was held at St. Francis Catholic Church following Interment.

Marion Senter
(July 14, 1923 - June 25, 2010)

Marion Senter, 87, of Burns, Ore., died June 25, 2010, at his home. His graveside service was  June 30, 2010, 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Ore. with Pastor Jon Privett from  the Baker City Church of the Nazarene officiating.
Marion Carl Senter was born July 14, 1923, to John and Florine Senter. Marion was raised and educated in La Grande, Ore., where he graduated from high school.  He moved to Portland after high school to work in the ship yards during World War II. While in Portland, Marion went to school to become an auto body and fender technician.
He moved to Baker City where he used his training in body and fender repair. He married Elsie Elizabeth Berdahl in Reno, Nev., in 1953. Later, Marion went to work for Oregon Lumber Company in Baker and was transferred to the Hines, Ore., mill where he worked until retirement.  He made his home in Burns, Ore.
Marion is survived by his step-children, Alfred J. and Nancy Berdahl of Baker City, Ore., Bud  and Carol Ann (Berdahl) Osborne of Snohomish, Wash., and Fred D. and Judy Berdahl of Olympia, Wash. They will remember him as the World’s Greatest Step-Dad!  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Mr. Senter was proceeded in death by his parents, John and Florine Senter, a brother, Johnny Senter, his wife, Elsie Senter, step-sons Nels P. Berdahl and Larry Berdahl, and a step-daughter Virginia E. (Berdahl) Pifpher.

Michael Vernholm
Michael Paul Vernholm passed away at age 50 on June 28, 2010, in Baker City, Ore. No Services will be held at this time. Michael’s Ashes will be scattered along with his father’s in Richland, Ore.
Michael was horn Feb. 25,1960,  to Dale and Jo (Detmer) Vernholm in Baker City, Ore. After 1 year of high school Michael went to work for Keystone Farm Work and Canneries.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he was looking forward to going bow hunting this year. Michael was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he was baptized. No one was a stranger to Mike. He told his mom almost daily that he loved her. She will miss him very much. Michael's fiance, Wendy, and his little dog, Cloe, will miss him as well.
Michael is survived by his mother Jo Vernholm of Baker City, Ore.; two brothers, Steve Vernholm of Emmett Idaho; and Gary Vernholm of Baker City, Ore.;  three sons Roger Vernholm and Dale B. Vernholm both of Lyons, Ore., and Sam Ragsdale of Arizona. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father W. Dale Vernholm; his sister Jody Lynn Vernholm and his grandparents Carl and Lois Vernholm and Frank and Emma Detmer.

Mark Wheeler
(Feb. 12, 1959-May 23, 2010)
Mark Wheeler, 51, passed away at his home in California on May 23, 2010. A Celebration of Mark's Life  will be held at the home of Ken and Sandy Wheeler tentatively on Saturday, Sept.  4, 2010 at 2 p.m. 
Mark was born in Glasgow Montana Feb. 12, 1959, to very proud parents Kenneth and Sandra Wheeler. At the age of nine months Mark accompanied his parents around the world and United States as his father was an Air Force Non-Commission Officer. The family lived in Madrid Spain, Fallon Nev., Corvallis Ore., North Bend, Ore., and Great Falls, Mont., before settling in Halfway, Ore. After graduating from high school Mark moved to Georgia where he lived for 5 years and worked in the building trade.  In the spring of 1982 Mark returned to Halfway and on Nov. 23, 1982, he married his wife Edrie. They lived in Halfway and then moved to La Grande, Ore., where their daughter Dustie was born. In November 1984 the family moved to California where they made their home. Mark was employed by Pacific Gas and Electric for 25 years.
Mark loved the outdoors especially riding quads on the sand dunes, bike riding, camping but his real passion was snow skiing. He was a talented artist, photographer, craftsman and carpenter who could do and fix anything  he set his mind to.  Mark was adventurous, rebellious and a thrill seeker who always pushed the limits and was always looking for a good time.  Mark's greatest joy of late was entertaining his grand kids whom he loved with great passion.
Mark is survived by his wife Edrie, daughter and son-in-law Dustie and Brett Kenyon and two  grandchildren Colt and Carlie Kenyon of Redding, Calif., his parents Kenneth and Sandra Wheeler of Halfway, Ore., brother Matthew Wheeler of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., sister and brother-in-law and nephew Dairy and Arlo and Sean Kane of Lynn Haven, Florida, Grandfather Ernie Gruenzner of Halfway, Ore., aunts Nadene Harris and her husband Delmus and their son Emory of Doerun, Ga., Susan Ijams of Huntington, Ore., uncles, Alvin Wheeler and his wife Effie and their sons Ted and Brad Wheeler and their families also of Doerun, Ernest Gruenzner of Richland, Ore., Bill Gruenzner of Salmon, Id., Graig Gruenzner of Merced, Calif. Numerous cousins and many friends.
