At age 30, she moved to Germany with her husband James C. Fox, with an additional five stepchildren in tow. Cooking, cleaning and caring for 10 children is a testament to her determined nature. Many moves and years later, she and Jim returned to Baker City where they both were very active members of the Baker City Elks Lodge. These years were happy ones, for both of them. She was a grandmother to six boys and two girls and just recently became a great-grandmother for the third time.

She was a petite woman who, despite her small stature, was a force of will; she lived life on her terms and lived it fully. She taught her children by example that under any circumstances, good or bad, to put one foot in front of the other and to just keep walking.
She will be missed by her family and many friends and will join her husband, James C. Fox, who predeceased her on Feb. 15, 2010.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Eye Institute.  This may be done through Coles Tribute Center, 1950 Place Street, Baker City, OR 97814.
