Memorial services and celebration of life will be held Sept. 18, 2010, at the Eagles Lodge, Baker City, Ore. Michael, more commonly known as “Mike” was born May 8, 1958, in Medford, Ore., to Jim and Caroline Henry. He was the youngest of four children. He attended Catholic school up until the second grade when his family moved to Baker City to open Jim Henry Distributing. While attending school in Baker, he made many lifelong friends with whom he would always stay in touch with. In 1986 Mike met Sandy whom he married Aug. 19, 1988, and became Dad to her three children. They moved to Denver, Colo., where they had a daughter together. Even though they later divorced he still remained a loving father figure to her children. He worked many jobs throughout his life including: logging, sales, bar tending and construction, but mostly he will be remembered distributing beer for his parents. He was a member of the Baker Eagles where he was a Trustee for many years and the Baker Elks Lodge were he preformed the duties of Tiller. He loved doing outdoor activities such as golfing and hunting, but more than anything he loved to fish. He was quick to show what bait to use, how and where to cast, and if you acted like you couldn’t tie a knot, he would grab the fishing pole and tie it for you. Last summer he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of fishing in Alaska with friends. He always valued his family very highly, and when his mother and father became ill he stepped in and took care of them until their last breath. He had a quick wit, great sense of humor, infectious smile and he made friends wherever he went. Even though his life was not long, he made an impact on many people’s lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mike is survived by his sister , Cindy Johnson; brother, Kevin Henry; sons, Mark LaMere and Brandon Kaario; daughters, Emily Turner and Michaela Hockenberry; son in-law, Jacob Hockenberry; special uncle, Dick Henry; granddaughter, Veda Turner and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
