(May 10, 1915 – Nov. 18, 2007)

Noel D. Child, 92, of Nampa, Idaho, and formerly of Middleton, Idaho, passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at the Middleton Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 309 W Main, Middleton, Idaho.   Interment followed at the Middleton Cemetery, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, Idaho.
Noel was born May 10, 1915, at Fairview, Wy. He married Lorraine Stinson on April 24, 1936, in Payette, Idaho. Noel and Larraine moved to Baker in 1936 and resided here until they moved to Middleton, Idaho in 1980. Noel worked for many years for the Eddy’s Bread Co. as a delivery truck driver, one of his routes was the Richland-Halfway area.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lorraine Child; children, Verba Hampton of Canyon City, Ore.; Richard Child of Nampa, Idaho; Vicki Hotchkiss of Calhan, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Virgil Child of Corona, Calif., Vernal Child of Greenwood, Miss., and Myrl L(Monte) Child of Green Bay, Wisc.; one sister, Verda McClanahan of Kelso Wash.; nephew, Les and Kathleen Bernard of Baker City, Ore., and niece, Nadine Bernard Collett of Tigard, Ore. 


Angel Delos-Reyes
(Feb. 20, 1951 – Nov. 24, 2007)

Angel Delos-Reyes, 56, of Baker City, Ore., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Health Services after a long illness.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Angel was born Feb. 20, 1951, in Los Angeles, Calif.  He was a firefighter in San Francisco for a number of years. Later he worked as a chef in Palm Springs.
He liked to cook, play music, to fish and be in the outdoors.
Angel is survived by his son of the San Francisco area; brothers and sisters of southern California; and his friend of 14 years Chris Becker of Baker City.
Arrangements are in the care of Gray’s West & Company Pioneer Chapel.


Jeanette Fisher
(June 27, 1937 – Nov. 10, 2007)

Jean Fisher, 70, of Baker City, Ore., died Nov. 10, 2007, at her home. At her request, her body was cremated and there will be no service.
Jean was born on June 27, 1937, at Orofino, Idaho to Ellen Austin Pollock and Milton Pollock.  On Dec. 22, 1968, she married John Fisher, whom preceded her in death after 34 years of marriage.
Jean enjoyed reading, crocheting, and gardening.  She was an avid golfer and especially like the luncheons that they had together. Her love of travel took her across the country and the one place where she particularly enjoyed was Arizona. Many will remember Jean for the several years that she worked at the Fireside in Baker City. Jeanette will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Pollock of Mt. Vernon, Ore.; stepson, John Fisher of Sherwood, Ore.; stepdaughter, Elaine Thomas of Oroville, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Milton Pollock and mother, Ellen Pollock

Ellen Haefer
(June 5, 1919 – Nov. 23, 2007)

Ellen Haefer, 88, of Boise, Idaho, formally of La Grande, Ore., died Nov. 23, 2007, in Kuna, Idaho, at the Kuna Living Center.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Nov.  28, at 1 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Ore.
Ellen was born June 5, 1919, in Baker City to Herbert Green and Esther Lane Green.  She married Willard Haefer in Walla Walla, Wash., in 1936. They had one child, Amelia (Amy) Worm.
Ellen lived in Cornucopia and Muddy Creek and cooked in the Muddy Creek School in the 1940’s. She became a license practical nurse in 1950, training at St. Joseph Hospital in La Grande. Ellen worked at Grand Ronde Hospital, La Grande Ore., and at Willamette Valley Hospital in Oregon City, Ore.
She is survived by her daughter, Amelia and her children, Carol Ann and Scott Metsker, Randy and Reggie Coles, Darrell and Myra Coles, and Paul Long; great grandchildren, Stephanie and Steven Metsker, Chris and Alex Coles, Crystal, DJ, and Derek Coles; great great grandchildren, Maybelle and Alyssa Coles, Taylor Coles; sister, Viola Perkins; sisters-in-law, Vera Hill and Thelma Haefer plus many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetic Association or the charity of ones choice.


Marilyn C. ‘Lynne’ Taylor
(Nov. 22, 1941 – Nov. 20, 2007)

Marilyn Claire ‘Lynne’ Taylor, 65, of Baker City, Ore., passed away Tuesday Nov. 20, 2007, unexpectedly after an extended battle with heart ailments at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Dec. 1, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Coles Funeral Home.  Pastor Rob Zaklan from Bible Baptist Church, Payette, Idaho will officiate. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Quail Ridge Golf Course for a time of reminiscing and celebrating her wonderful life.
Lynne was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Robert and Mary Howard. Her family moved to Lakeview, Ore., where she grew up and graduated from High School in 1960. After two years of college she met, dated and fell in love with Larry Allan Taylor while they were both working for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Lakeview, Ore. At the end of 1962, Larry and Lynne were married and moved to Fort Collins, Colo. While Larry attended Colorado State University, Lynne was busy working as a secretary for the Extension Agronomy Service on the Colorado State University campus.  Their first two sons James Allan and Robert Neil were born in 1964 and 1967 in Fort Collins, Colo.
Upon Larry’s college graduation in 1967, they moved to Baker, Ore., where he was employed by the BLM.  In 1969 their daughter Julie Ann was born, and in 1971, their third son Richard William was born.
As a mother, Lynne was wonderful and worked hard to maintain a happy household. In addition to her duties as a full time mother, she managed to have a successful career. She was employed as a bookkeeper at The Merc for years, and later worked as a secretary for the Baker County Treasures Office. She was later elected and served proudly as the Baker County Treasurer until she retired in 1999.
Lynne loved people. She loved her husband, her children, grandchildren, and all of her friends. She was an active member in the community her whole life. She was president of the ‘Welcome Wagon Club’ in the late 60’s and early 70’s. For most of her adult life, she was an avid bowler and had a natural talent at it. She traveled to dozens of tournaments in the northwest, winning many trophies. She also loved to play golf.
Lynne was very giving and loved to donate her time to help people. She served as secretary/treasurer for several associations such as the Women’s Bowling League, Golf leagues, and was serving as the Treasurer for the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. She was very talented and enjoyed playing bridge with cherished friends here in town, painting ceramics, and playing several computer games. She met some of her dearest friends from all over the world while playing on-line bridge. It was a joy when she was able to meet several of them in person. As her four children were growing, she had active roles in all their functions such as the PTA, Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, Wrestling Club, 4-H, Girl Scouts, drill team and any other activity they were involved in.
Lynne is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Larry Allan Taylor of Baker City, Ore.; as well as her sister, Gerry Walker of Cortez, Colo.; four children, James Allen Taylor of Meridian, Idaho, Robert Neil Taylor of Meridian, Idaho, Julie Ann, wife of Eric Newman of Payette, Idaho, and Richard William Taylor of Meridian, Idaho. Her nine grandchildren, Ethan, Renae, Nathan, Ezra, Connor, Ty, Seth, Ashton, McKenzie, and her precious poodle she loved so much, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary or a charity of your choice in care of Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place Street, Baker City, OR 97814.
Lynne had a heart of gold and was loved by many. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends.


Laurie A. Wyllie
(Feb. 10, 1929 – Nov. 24, 2007)

Laurie A. Wyllie, 78, of John Day, Ore., passed away at his home Nov. 24, 2007. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd, John Day, OR 97845. Pastor Darrell Johnson will officiate. Interment will be at Canyon City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday Nov. 30 from 2 p.m. -7 p.m. at Driskill Memorial Chapel.
Laurie Arnold Wyllie was born Feb. 10, 1929, to James A. and Eula W. (Belshaw) Wyllie in Dayville, Ore. In 1946 Laurie graduated from Grant Union High School. He went on to serve 2 years in the United States Army.
On Aug. 18, 1962, in Boise, Idaho, Laurie married his long time friend Donna Lavelle Porter. To that union was born 4 sons and 1 daughter, Kelly, Lindsey, Russell, Layton and Jamie.
Mr. Wyllie spent his life as a cattle rancher. He enjoyed spring brandings, hunting, rodeo, sports, reading, music and dancing. And he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Laurie was a member of the Elks Club, the Sheriffs posse and the Fair Board. In 2000, Laurie was the Grand Marshal of the grant county fair. One of Laurie’s many accomplishments was he learned to play the piano.
Laurie is survived by daughter Jamie Lupien of Woodbridge, Calif.; sons, Kelly Wyllie of Beaverton, Russ Wyllie of Reno, Nev., Lindsey Wyllie of John Day, and Layton Wyllie of John Day; 14 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren.
Laurie was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Wyllie and Eula W. Belshaw; one brother, James Layton Wyllie.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Laurie Wyllie Memorial Fund or the Blue Mt. Hospice through Drisklill Memorial Chapel.
