At the age of 18, Hudson began courting James Payton in 1999. They separated in the latter part of 2007 for unknown reasons. In September 2008, David Otunga, a Harvard Law School graduate, and WWE professional wrestler posed the question to Hudson. Hudson gave birth to her first child, who was named David Daniel Otunga Jr., in August 2009. Otunga and Hudson divorced in November of the year prior.

On October 24, 2008, the bodies of Hudson’s mother Darnell, and brother Jason were found in the Chicago home they shared with Hudson and his sister Julia. Julian, the missing child of Hudson’s aunt Julia, was found dead three days later.
