Mike Shinoda has given an update on the state of Linkin Park, telling fans that he and the other members of the band communicate “every few weeks.” On Friday’s Twitch broadcast, the artist, who was just named Community Innovation Advisor of Warner Recorded Music, outlined the group’s plans for the future (April 22).
After the tragic loss of Chester Bennington in 2017, Linkin Park went on indefinite hiatus. The only bit of Linkin Park information I can provide you is that… We chat maybe once every couple of weeks,” Shinoda stated. And there are no shows planned, no songs written, and no albums in the works.
All right, I’ll simply spill the beans. So simply remind yourselves that it is not the case. For the time being, he said, “I’m simply going to say that much.” “I say that because whenever the band says or does something, everyone tries to fire up the hype train, and we’re like, ‘No, no, no, no. ‘Don’t get people’s hopes up.’ It’s going to be a letdown for you. That’s a bad idea.

Shinoda denied rumors in early 2019 that Linkin Park was searching for a new singer. Shinoda said to Rock Antenne, “That’s not my intention right now,” when asked if the band was considering replacing vocalist, David Coverdale. What needs to happen, in my opinion, is a natural progression.
I could understand attempting to do something with someone if we found a terrific individual who we thought was a good personality fit and a good style fit. Bennington would not be replaced “for the sake of replacing,” he said, since “I wouldn’t want to ever feel like we were replacing Chester.”
Soon after, Shinoda rushed to Twitter to dispel the notion, writing, “Lemme clarify a rumor: we are not seeking for a new vocalist, and if it were to happen naturally, I’d be open. It seems obvious, yet I can see how some people would have trouble grasping it.
When pressed further, he said, “I’m not into forecasting the future. Things in the future will occur. Meanwhile, Chester Bennington’s previous band Grey Daze announced their comeback earlier this month with a brand new album titled “The Phoenix.”
Is there any truth to rumors that Linkin Park has broken up?
After Chester Bennington’s untimely death in 2017, Linkin Park went on an indefinite vacation from performing. After being on hiatus following Bennington’s death (2017), the band eventually reunited in 2020. Until 2017, Chester was Linkin Park’s lead singer. Throughout his career, he had contributed to full-length albums by Linkin Park.
After Chester’s suicide in July 2017, Linkin Park took an indefinite break. Mike stated in April 2022 that they will not be creating new material or performing for the foreseeable future.

Mike cautioned Linkin Park followers not to wait around for new music from the band for fear of disappointment. Evidently, Mike stated, “I’m simply going to say that much for now. I say this because whenever the band makes a statement or does an act, the media and fans want to build a hype train, and we’re always like, “No, no, no, no.
” Please don’t start the rumor mill. Ultimately, you will let yourself down. Stop doing it! And therefore, the group isn’t working on anything at the moment. Let’s see what the future brings.
