Was Lucy Letby Pregnant?
No, Lucy Letby was not pregnant. The rumors began because of a ‘visible baby bump’ that netizens were quick to notice in the recent pictures of the accused. However, the ‘visible baby bump’ is nothing but because of her weight gain.
The rumors were backed by the accusations of Lucy Letby being romantically associated with a married doctor in the hospital she worked at. This also revealed that this doctor might have been a possible ‘motivation’ for Lucy to commit such grave crimes.
It is said that this doctor was often called upon in cases of a rapid decline in the baby’s health and hence it might be possible that Lucy Letby was carrying out her “work” to get the attention of the doctor.
Who Was Lucy Letby Dating?
Lucy Letby was not dating anyone. However, there are rumors that she was romantically inclined towards a married doctor in her hospital. The jury at Manchester Crown Court in UK convicted the 33-year-old Neonatal nurse, Lucy Letby for preying on premature and sick newborns in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
The case dates back to 2015-16. The real reason behind the killings has not yet been completely understood but according to the investigation, a few theories have come up.
The first is the theory of infatuation. It is believed that Kucy Ketby carried out such actions to get the attention of a married doctor she was infatuated with. However, in court, Letby told the jury that she loved the doctor as a trusted friend and nothing more.
The other theory suggests that ‘she enjoyed the idea of playing god’. She killed a child after pumping air into his stomach. It is also stated that she found taking care of sick babies ‘boring’. On this, as noted by Times of India, Percival-Calderbank noted that –
“She expressed that she was unhappy at being put in the outside nurseries. She said it was ‘boring and didn’t want to feed babies’. She wanted to be in intensive care.”
It may also be noted that Letby was probably suffering from emotional turmoil. She explained during the trial that she had been suspended from her job due to an ongoing investigation and was suffering from emotional turmoil.
“I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to care for them. I will never marry or have children. I will never know what it’s like to have a family.”
