Professional Career of Lil Meech
Flenory Jr. self-released his debut single, “Bad Habits,” in 2019 under the moniker “Lil Meech” (a tribute to his father, “Big Meech”). Included in the music video is a thirty-second clip of his father speaking from prison.
Flenory Jr. explains that his father called him from prison to inform him that rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson owned the rights to the Black Mafia Family narrative and that a film or television series would be produced. Black Mafia Family would depict the true story of two Detroit brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, who become one of the most influential criminal families in the United States during the 1980s as notorious drug dealers.
Flenory founded BMF Entertainment in the early 2000s as a drug trafficking and money laundering enterprise that included a record label, hip-hop magazine, and music promotion company. The first casting call was held in Atlanta, and his father wished for him to meet Jackson so that he could observe the production process.
The rapper/executive producer told Flenory Jr. that he wanted to transfer him to Los Angeles and enroll him in acting classes so that he could star in the series as his father after failing to find an actor during the casting calls. Flenory Jr. was pursuing business at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas at the time.

He characterized the experience as “intense” due to the fact that he had been taking lessons “five days a week, (sometimes) twice a day, for two years.” Jackson shared the same father as Flenory Jr., Demetrius “Big Meech” Throughout the creation of the program, Flenory was in constant contact with his son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., and creator Randy Huggins.
Huggins did not believe it was necessary for Flenory Jr. to portray his father at the outset of the show’s development.
