Many viewers of The Bachelorette season 19 were not shocked to hear that Gabby Windey had broken off her engagement to Erich Schwer. After competing for Clayton Echard’s affections on Season 26 of The Bachelor, Gabby was named one of two leading candidates for Season 19 of The Bachelorette, with Rachel Recchia.
A spark between Erich and Gabby immediately ignited, and the two were engaged in the season finale. On the other hand, Gabby and Erich just broke up their engagement and their romance.
When Gabby was seen on Dancing With The Stars sans her engagement ring, many began to suspect that she and Erich had split up. Gabby said she and Erich were spending time apart but were still there for one other emotionally.
Fans also noticed that Erich had ceased showing up to Gabby’s DWTS performances, which they saw as further evidence of separation. Erich continued to encourage supporters to cast ballots for Gabby, leading some to believe that the couple’s separation was merely temporary.

In the wake of the Dancing with the Stars: Halloween Special, Gabby finally addressed the elephant in the room: Are she and Erich still engaged? Fans believed the cute pair had broken up after they realized Erich hadn’t been showing up to the live events, despite his support for the 31-year-old ex-ICU nurse on social media.
Gabby said to Fox News that the couple’s hectic schedule was to blame for their lack of communication. And so, while I do appreciate their worries, please rest assured that we are both pursuing our own goals and supporting each other from a distance.
The word that Gabby and Erich had broken off their engagement quickly spread throughout the internet. E! News reported on their breakup on November 4, 2022, and a source said that Gabby had ended things earlier in the week.
They “thought they weren’t aligned and weren’t on the same page,” the source said, adding that Gabby “was hoping they could give each other space and work it out but finally realized they didn’t have a future.”
Several other franchise alumni spoke out about Gabby and Erich’s split, with Jill Chin telling Us Weekly that “the writing was on the wall.” Prior to joining BIP for Season 8, Johnny DePhillipo dated Gabby on her season and he told Us Weekly, “The going is difficult. In fact, I do love her, and I hope the best for her. Tough times like these are never easy.”
For those who don’t know, Gabby and Erich is the fourth Bachelor couple to fall victim to the DWTS curse. We know you’re wondering what this means, so let us fill you in: Reality Steve claims that every franchise lead who appeared on Dancing With the Stars soon after their season finale has broken up with the show’s eventual winner.
As well as Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi, the curse has touched Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff, and Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi.

The Bachelorette Viewers Feel Erich Was Not Prepared for Marriage.
Many viewers did not think Gabby and Erich would stay since they did not believe Erich was ready for marriage. Erich told Gabby towards the end of the season that he didn’t want to rush into marriage and instead wanted to date her in the real world. Gabby was hurt by this and reaffirmed her want for a long-term commitment.
Despite the fact that it may have been detrimental to their relationship, some viewers believe that Erich felt compelled to propose because he did not want to lose Gabby. Some viewers thought Gabby was pushed into picking Erich since he was the last suitor left.
Two of Gabby’s last three guys, Johnny DePhillipo and Jason Alabaster, eliminated themselves, leaving just Erich. Many viewers assume Gabby selected Erich because she had no other choice after Johnny and Jason left on their own terms. Additionally, Erich showed a great deal of jealousy at this time, which is a terrible basis for any kind of emotional involvement.
Fans of “The Bachelorette” hoped Gabby would find “The One,” and while they are disappointed to see yet another romance fail on “Bachelor Nation,” they are not shocked. The appearance of images of Erich in Blackface from his high school yearbook also caused a lot of controversy for him when he was on the show.
A short time later, Erich’s ex-girlfriend came forward with images of their text messages, proving that they had been in contact up until the moment he departed for filming. Nonetheless, supporters wish for a happy ending in which Gabby and Erich may put their differences behind them and achieve real fulfillment.
