Donda Academy, Kanye West’s school, has shuttered since he was fired from several of his collaborations.
The rapper has severed connections with Adidas, Balenciaga, Vogue, Gap, and the Creative Talent Agency due to recent anti-Semitism.
Adidas stated in a statement that Ye’s recent words and deeds “have been abhorrent, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s principles of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and justice.
The German sportswear company has declared it would cease all Yeezy production and all shoe sales.
Currently, Kanye’s private school in Los Angeles, Donda Academy, is closed for the rest of the 2022–2023 academic year but plans to reopen.
Donda Academy is closed
Parents were informed via email on Wednesday (October 27) that Donda Academy will be closed without prior notice.
The email stated that “Donda Academy would close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 year with immediate effect, at the option of our founder.”
Then, in capital letters, it said, “THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.”
“Our leadership team will be working hard to support all families during this transition, making sure that every scholar has everything they need to excel in their next community,” the statement continued.
According to Rolling Stone, the school welcomed about 100 pupils in August, and all of them will need to quickly transfer to a new school.
They intend to open the school again next year
The email also states that they “intend to begin over in September of 2023” in reference to the closure not being final.
We have faith that our students will keep making progress as the next generation’s innovative thinkers, fearless leaders, and academic leaders.
Jason Lee, here’s the clout you’re searching for, wrote TheYeezyfounder, confirming the school’s closure on Instagram. My school is currently being closed. You want to be wounded or aided.
“I’m Ari Emmanuel. In one day, I lost two billion dollars. I’m still here, too. These are words of affection. Still, I adore you. God still cares about you. Money does not define who I am. I am the people, he continued in another message.
All about Donda Academy
The goal of Ventura County’s Donda Academy is to “educate students to become the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators.”
It states that it will give pupils a “world-class” education that places an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving in addition to a “rigorous core curriculum”.
The school, which opened in 2022 and charges $15,000 in tuition per year, has just begun to enroll students.
The institution, which bears the rapper Smother’s name, offers early kindergarten through 12th-grade instruction to its students.
The morning core sessions in language arts, math, and science are part of a regular day at Donda Academy, according to their website.
After lunch and a break, enrichment classes such as international languages, visual arts, movies, and parkour are offered.
The student-to-teacher ratio is less than 12 pupils in each class, or 10:1, although the school is not yet certified.
