In the Ozark Season 4 finale, who does Jonah shoot and kill?
During the Ozark finale, Jonah Byrde shoots and kills Mel Sattem.
Mel Sattem, a private investigator, is the show’s ultimate victim, assassinated by Marty and Wendy’s son, Jonah.
Mel is looking down the barrel as Jonah pulls out a revolver and shoots while the screen fades to dark after confronting the Byrdes with proof pointing to Ben’s killing.
Wendy’s desperate attempt to reclaim her children’s independence comes crashing down when her son kills someone.
Why does Jonah assassinate Mel?
Jonah assassinates Mel Sattem because he is the final stumbling block on the Byrdes’ route to freedom.
Mel Sattem had been pursuing Ben Davis’ murder with zeal and was convinced the Byrdes were responsible.
Mel had broken into the Byrdes’ home and retrieved the cookie jar with Ben’s ashes during the last episode, indicating that the Byrdes were implicated in the murder.
Mel is dead set on exposing the Byrdes after rejecting the Byrdes’ payment to remain quiet, until Jonah intervenes to put an end to it.
