March 10, 2015: Every once in a while, a song comes along that makes everyone fall in love with it. Wiz Khalifa and singer-songwriter Charlie Puth worked together on a sad song for the soundtrack of Furious 7 as a tribute to the late actor Paul Walker, who died in a car accident on November 30, 2013.

Two years later, on this day, Wiz and Charlie put out the hit song “See You Again.” Charlie Puth, DJ Frank E, and Andrew Cedar all worked together to make and write “See You Again.” Charlie, who went to Berklee College of Music and is very good at the piano, wrote the song to honor his friend who had died.

In April 2015, he told Entertainment Weekly, “I was thinking about a friend who died the same way that Paul Walker did. I’m very proud that the people who made the Furious movies thought I did the best job of capturing it.”

Next, they had to find the right rapper to go with Charlie’s sad lyrics and beautiful piano sounds. Wale was one of the rappers who were thought of, but he said no because the song was too sad for him to write to.

Eminem and 50 Cent were also asked to do “See You Again,” but they turned it down because Em wanted to make music for the boxing movie Southpaw, in which he had invested.

Enter Wiz Khalifa. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania rhymer was inspired by Walker’s role as Brian O’Connor by using the “family” theme that runs through all of the Fast and the Furious movies.

In April 2015, he told MTV News, “I basically thought about what the movie means in terms of family and brotherhood, and I used the last race between Walker and Vin Diesel’s character as a metaphor.”

The pair’s song “See You Again” went to the top of the charts all over the world. The song, which was nominated for a Grammy, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time the week of April 25, 2015, and stayed there for 12 weeks.

Also, the video that goes with it has nearly 6 billion views, making it the most-watched video on YouTube. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) also gave the song 11 platinum certifications on Sept. 24, 2019.

The emotional ballad by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth continues to move fans all over the world.
