Many TikToku users have been complaining on Twitter over the last 24 hours that their account was banned with no explanation.
The Community Guidelines, which outline what you can and cannot do on TikTok, are the only rules that typically result in an account being banned by the app.
There are sections on child safety, risky behaviors, nudity, bullying, hate speech, and many more topics.
Users contend that their accounts were wrongfully suspended despite the fact that they did not in any way violate the Community Guidelines.
TikTok Accounts ‘Banned for No Reason’
This week, many TikTok users have been encountering an error message that claims their account has been suspended.
The pop-up box reads, “Your account was permanently banned due to repeated violations of our Community Guidelines.”
Users are unable to access their profiles at all after being told “your account was currently suspended” when attempting to log in.
Many users whose accounts have been suspended claim they simply use the app to watch videos and never post or leave comments.
The majority of users who report false suspensions on TikTok appear to be Americans.
“I just got banned on TikTok for no reason like I seriously don’t even post,” one user stated.
“So, for virtually no reason, my TikTok account was suspended. I followed the rules, and my content was either my artwork or Animal Crossing. Another added, “I tried to log on via the web, but it just said it was suspended.
“Did anyone else get arbitrarily permanently banned from TikTok?” said a third person. I only watch videos; I don’t leave comments.
“Can someone please tell me how to solve this? My TikTok account was blocked for practically no reason.” another person tweeted.
TikTok Hasn’t Responded
Many people are trying to tweet to the TikTok Support account to attempt and find out what is happening, but they are having no luck.
The app hasn’t responded to the accusations of banned accounts as of the time of writing, and it’s not apparent whether the situation is an error.
TikTok has been contacted by GRV Media for comment, but no response has been given as of yet.
