On this, the 30th anniversary of the release of the arcade classic Pac-Man, why not dust up your old console and experience your youth once again? In the spirit of the holiday, here is a link to Google’s interactive Pacman (Pac-Man) Easter egg.
Pac-Man (the game’s original Japanese name was Puck Man; it was altered for international distribution) is a classic example of the lasting impression video games can make on a new generation of gamers.
An homage to the legendary arcade game, the Pacman 30th Anniversary Google Doodle was created that year to commemorate its rise to prominence after its first release in the 1980s.
In honor of Pac-30th Man’s anniversary, Bandai Namco Entertainment USA Inc. remade the game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. As a result, people all over the world may keep having fun with the arcade classic even after all these years have passed.
The Origins of Pac-Man
Such an impact on the gaming world for a game about a yellow ball eating and running away from ghosts. A young video game creator named Toru Iwatani, a visionary ahead of his time created the cultural icon.
As he started out on the project, “arcades were loaded with violent computer games that had you killing aliens,” he said. At Namco, Toru Iwatani was already established in the business. He continued by saying that the arcades were depressing, male-dominated enclaves.
He set out to dispel this myth by designing a game that was approachable to novice players, including women and couples. In fact, he did what he said he would. Women felt welcome playing Pac-Man, the first video game, in the arcade’s Pac-Man cabinet (the machine), which otherwise housed predominantly male-oriented pinball games. Iwatani had no idea that he was about to create a landmark in the realm of video games.

Making Pacman
Iwatani asserts that glancing at a pizza influenced the recognizable shape of our main character’s body. Iwatani decided to develop “Pakkuman,” a character that is an onomatopoeic reference to the Japanese term “Paku-Paku tabu,” because the pizza was missing two slices, which resembled a mouth to him.
The phrase is typically used to refer to the sound your mouth makes when it opens widely and closes quickly, which evolved into the recognizable “Paku Paku” sounds we hear in this wonderful game today.
It’s a wonderful method to create a character, and the fact that it’s still relevant today, 30 years after Pac-Man first appeared, speaks volumes about how enjoyable and creatively designed the game is.
Pac-Man is actually merely fleeing from four ghosts, rather than having to battle some terrible alien invasion or terrifying monsters from below. Even while this doesn’t seem like a really terrifying foe, the gameplay nonetheless makes you worry about being caught off guard and losing a life to one of these creatures.
Pacman’s wide mouth is his distinguishing motion. Players must methodically chew their way to victory with this as Pac-only Man’s weapon, and Iwatani created the game so that Pac-Man could consume pills, fruits, and power pellets, also known as power pills.
As part of its license arrangement with Namco America in the United States, Midway Manufacturing (Midway Games) distributed the classic game in North America. It later developed into a worldwide phenomenon and one of the best-selling retro arcade games and video games of all time.
The original Pac-man went on to revolutionize the gaming industry for good by inspiring a host of other products, including board and card games, comics, Saturday morning cartoons, TV shows, online games, stationery, lunch boxes, and more. Even the sound effects in the game have altered pop culture.
Also, Midway went on to produce other games like Mrs. Pac-Man, a smash hit that further contributed to the Pac-Man mania that enveloped the arcade classic. Since then, the public has cried out for Ms. Pac-Man to return, and it appears that the 40th anniversary will do exactly that.
The distribution of Ms. Pac-Man violated Namco’s terms of service, which led to some controversy, but it appears that all has been resolved. Super Pac-Man was also created by Midway. Nearly every aspect of the game, including new modes, was updated, yet the classic Pac-Man figure remained.
Players in this edition had to consume keys that opened doors to their “fruit,” the fundamental “currency” needed to move on to the next level where the fruit is worth more points. Although Pac-Man was the initial character in the Pac-Man universe, other playable characters such as Professor Pac-Man and Baby Pac-Man were later added.
Every anniversary, it seems like more and more content is being added to the game, including difficulty settings, tournament mode, themed events, new mazes (while still keeping the original mazes), exclusive skins, weekly maze challenges, Story mode, Pac-Man battle royale, adventure mode, classic 8-bit arcade mode, and so much more.
The Pac-Man Museum +, built by Bandai Namco to highlight all of the fantastic games they have created in Pac-likeness Man since the late 1970s, gives you access to these and many more.
How to use your Google browser to play Pacman 30th Anniversary
The inclusion of the complete Pacman game on the Pacman 30th Anniversary has to be one of the more intriguing Easter eggs to come out of the Google Doodle feature. To view the Google Doodle today, all you really need to do is launch the Google Chrome browser and put “Pacman” into the search bar (in other words, Google Pacman).
After that, all you have to do is click the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button, which is often represented by an insert coin or just “Play,” and you’ll be taken to a new game with a novice level that wasn’t in the original game. Google uses this level to highlight the doodle’s meticulous creation.
The game will automatically begin if you wait long enough, and Pac-Man can be moved about with the arrow keys. It appears that updates have been made to the classic arcade game, enabling access to a two-player multiplayer mode. You must visit Pacman online and click twice to access this.
As the first player continues to play normally with the arrow keys, the second player can move their own Pac-Man using the WASD keys. The procedure is essentially the same for mobile devices: open Chrome on your phone and put “Pacman” into the search bar.
This time, the “PAC-MAN Doodle” will appear at the top of your search results. To play the first level of this Google doodle celebrating Pacman’s 30th anniversary, simply touch Play. Pac-Man is easily controlled on mobile devices utilizing swiping gestures. The fact that Pac-Man for Google Chrome is still free today is a bonus.
All major gaming consoles and platforms, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (STEAM), Nintendo Switch, Apple iOS devices (via the App Store), and Android smartphones, now offer or allow access to Namco Limited’s PAC-MAN video games, including the original Pacman game (via Google Play store).
