Those who are anticipating their mail and gifts for New Year’s Eve want to know if the post office will be open on December 31. While 2022 may have gone by quickly for some people, it must have been a difficult year for others. However, there are only a few hours left in the year before it ends.
During the December holidays, businesses that are necessary to society, like banks and post offices, allow their staff time off to spend with their families. But this is also the time of year when individuals send parcels and gifts to their loved ones all around the world.
Is the Post Office Open Tomorrow – December 31?
New Year’s Eve, December 31, is a business day for the United States Postal Service (USPS). Local post offices will be open on the final day of 2022, according to their website. USPS adds that their hours may be extended, regular, or restricted. Customers must examine the business hours of their neighborhood post offices to ascertain the same.
Also, take note that the mail will be collected earlier than normal by the mailmen from the Blue Collection Boxes. Therefore, USPS urges users to place their mail in the boxes prior to noon.
For New Year’s Eve, FedEx, on the other hand, has a distinct work schedule. On December 31, FedEx Express will operate with modified hours. There will no longer be any FedEx Ground, FedEx Ground Economy, or FedEx Freight services.
Additionally, the service and hours for FedEx Office and FedEx Home Delivery will change. FedEx Trade Networks, FedEx Custom Critical, and other services will all continue to be offered. Although there are no ground service pickups available from United Parcel Service (UPS), the UPS store locations are open.
Is the Post Office Open on New Year’s Day, January 1?
All USPS local post offices will be closed on Sunday, January 1. The same is true for Blue Collection Boxes; however, Priority Mail will still be delivered. The same would hold true for Monday, January 2, as that day will be designated as National New Year’s Day 2023.
There will be no FedEx Express service on January 1 or 2. Conversely, FedEx Office, FedEx Trade Networks, FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery, and FedEx Ground Economy, and those services will be closed on January 1 but open on January 2.
On both days, FedEx Custom Critical will be open. On January 1 and 2, there will be no UPS pickup or delivery service.
Post and Mail Services Are to Resume on January 3
Beginning on Tuesday, January 3, post and mail delivery and pickup will resume as well as the majority of other crucial services. On Monday, January 16, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, there will be a federal holiday. Customers can phone their neighborhood post office to find out the timetable for January.
