What Extent Will Tomorrow’s (14 December) London Train Strikes Affect You?

london Train Strikes Tomorrow

Are there any train strikes scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, December 14, 2022, given the previous national strikes involving the NHS, Royal Mail, and transportation?

The number of strikes in the UK is at an all-time high as employees of the NHS, rail, and Royal Mail go on strike in a continued show of discontent about wages and working conditions.

Given that the cost of living is rising at its quickest rate in more than 40 years, rail workers are requesting better working conditions and wage increases that keep up with inflation.

Despite assertions from RMT general secretary Mike Lynch that the walkouts would “not largely impair passenger services,” the strikes will cripple the rail network during the busy Christmas season, with a particular focus on the days around December 25.

Lynch told the BBC, “Our members are sticking behind the core.” And until we have a resolution that they can accept, which we do not currently have, they are willing to take action.

There will be alterations on December 14th, yes. Tomorrow, two trade unions—the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) and the TSSA (Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association)—are going on strike.

According to The Guardian, a 40,000 RMT members’ strike will affect Network Rail and 14 railway operators. Avanti West Coast employees who are TSSA members are also expected to go on strike.

Travelers are urged to “only travel if absolutely necessary” on Wednesday, according to Network Rail.

Despite the fact that trains don’t generally run on Christmas Day and only a few services are offered on Boxing Day, rail workers are expected to demonstrate from December 24 through December 27. But it also means that thousands of people who intended to visit their loved ones will be stranded. On December 23, there will be a decreased level of service, so we advise against travel.
