It’s official. She stated, “I suppose my expectations made it real, my hope, my work, and my tears made it real. Divorce is like bereavement. So I’m sobbing for the person I was at the start of our marriage when I was hopeful and optimistic and healed and had less baggage.

And now I’m grieving for the wedding I once hoped would last. I can’t help but mourn the man he led me to believe he was at the outset and in the breaks between takes of that meticulously planned filming.

The foot and ankle physician proposed to the former reality star in September 2021, the health influencer announced on Instagram at the time. This couple secretly tied the wedding in August of 2022 and didn’t tell anybody about it until a full year later.

The newlyweds are now “Mr. & Mrs.,” as Batten wrote in the description for their wedding images on Instagram. They had planned a big wedding, she said but had to postpone it because of COVID-19.

According to their September 2022 Brides magazine interview, “we found ourselves between a rock and a hard place in attempting to schedule the wedding in 2022,” what with COVID, family health, and travel complications. We really tried to make things work out.

We debated postponing the event or shifting it to Chicago. As it turned out, we needed a lot more time to plan the elaborate party we wanted to throw for our loved ones. Batten and her fiance met the day before the city of Los Angeles went into lockdown in March 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The first season of the dating show based on a virtual reality dating pod was shot in late 2018 and will premiere in early 2020 before the former Netflix star meets and falls in love with the doctor. She became engaged to Mark Cuevas at the series finale, but he abruptly left their on-screen wedding.

Despite this being Batten’s first kid, she has previously discussed “learning to be a mom” through spending time with McGrath’s two children from a previous relationship, Poppy and Ethan.
